Another college year is right around the corner, and a new school year means new roommates. What comes with new roommates? New roommate drama! There is always a common theme to what defines the "bad" roommate. There's the dirty one, the party one, the weird one, and the bitch one. Surprisingly all this roommate drama can be avoided if everyone just implemented a little more common courtesy and a lot more common sense like so:
1. Do your dishes
2. Ask before you borrow
3. Clean up your spills
4. Don't use all the hot water
5. Don't eat all your roommates food
6. Pay rent/utilities on time
7. If your roommate's door is closed, knock
8. Respect quiet time
9. Put the seat down
10. Do your dishes
11. Turn off all electronics when not in use
12. Don't put a spoon in the microwave
13. Always set a timer for the oven
14. Don't leave your laundry in the washer/dryer for days
15. Don't take a long time in the bathroom
16. Shut the windows before it rains
17. Clean up your friends' mess
18. Puke in the toilet not on the floor
19. Flush the toilet
20. Do your dishes
21. If you use all the toilet paper, change it
22. If the trash is full, take it out to the dumpster
23. If your roommate is sleeping, don't wake them up
24. Share the space
25. Respect boundaries
26. Warn your roommate of guests
27. If you have leftover food, put it in a container and put it in the fridge
28. If the ice cube tray is empty, refill it
29. Throw your wrappers in the trash
30. Do your dishes
31. Put all dishes either in the sink or in the dishwasher
32. Once dishwasher is done, empty it
33. Buy toilet paper once in awhile
34. Don't leave tooth paste on the sink
35. Turn off your straightener before your leave
36. Always leave with your keys
37. Don't be too stubborn to compromise about the thermostat
38. If something breaks, fix it
39. Throw your rotten or spoiled food away
40. Do your dishes
If you follow these simple, yet often broken rules, you will be able to avoid being deemed the "bad" roommate and not have to deal with the basic college roommate drama.
