1. We understand brand loyalty- Case or Deere. Monsanto or Pioneer. Chevy or Ford. Ariat or Justin. We get it. We have our favorites too who we devote our paychecks to. We also make sure everyone knows what brand is our brand by sporting the company's baseball hat on those "bad hair days" that happen more often than not.
2. We have some of the best work ethics you will ever encounter- We aren't afraid of walking row after row of beans in the hot July sun. We aren't ashamed to say our arm has been shoved up a sow's south end a time or two. We don't complain about *gasp* working more than the expected 9-5. It's what we grew up on and it's instilled in us forever.
3. We have a very diverse sense of style- Our clothes change like the weather. One day we will be sporting a cut-off, jeans, boots, and a hat ready to throw some bales or fix fence, the next we will be gussied up in a pencil skirt, blazer, and heels ready to rock an interview. No two days are ever the same! Also note: you can tell us apart from the "wanna-bes" because we are the girls who don't wear skinny jeans with our cowboy boots.
4. We can hold intelligent conversations- Market trends, current events, hot issues, and future corn prices. Yes we know what those topics entail and yes we have an educated opinion on them. Plus, we are stubborn enough to defend our opinion and even might convince you to think the same way we do.
5. We didn't go to college to get our MRS Degree- Ok we will admit we did have a vision of meeting our rich farmer husband at some point during our 4 years, but we also had a vision of our dream job working for a seed company or livestock production company. We wouldn't spend our summer on internships if we didn't want to do something with out lives after graduation. We paid our dues as interns so that we could support ourselves some day and not rely on some man to do that for us.
6. We don't eat at Chipotle- I think we deserve about 5983470 extra points for that one. Supporting and defending our industry will always be top priority to us.
7. We aren't afraid to get dirty- At the end of the day we don't care that our favorite pair of jeans are covered in mud or manure or other bodily fluids that may have come out of a cow's uterus. Clothes can be washed, but that baby calf that we spent an hour pulling out may not have lived if we hadn't sacrificed getting a little messy.
8. We have a rather extensive vocabulary- Rotational Grazing. Genetically Modified Organism. Cover Crop. Artificial Insemination. Glyphosate Resistant Water Hemp. Yes we know big words and we use them in our every day language. This kind of relates back to the intelligent conversation thing.
9. We are extremely passionate about what we do- It takes a very special female to excited about finding the nitrogen content in soil or who spends hours in coolers giving quality grades to beef carcasses. It's not a fancy lifestyle by any means but we wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't something we absolutely loved. Sometimes our eyes light up when we get to talk about new soybean hybrids or expected export markets. Just accept it and admit that you find it attractive.
10. Not only can we carry the Miracle of Life for 9 months, but we can also feed the world at the same time- *mic drop*
