3 weeks down only 7 more to go! This work week was a little more livelier than last weeks. On Tuesday, I had the chance to go to a hearing on TPP where the President of NPPC was testifying at. It was very interesting to hear the wide array of others testifying at the hearing: Minnesota Farm Buraue, a man with the dairy industry, a man from the fruit industry, and a lady from the wine and spirits industry. It definitely helped visualize just how big the scope of TPP is and how many industries it will affect. On Friday, I also expanded my TPP knowledge by attending a Social Media and TPP seminar put on by the UPS. There were people attending both from Ag alliances and non-Ag companies (such as a shoe store) wanting to learn how to utilize Twitter to support TPP. I learned some about social media techniques but I think they learned more from me when I asked is they had ever put on a Twitter Chat, which they had no idea what it was, and thus a half hour conversation on Twitter Chats was established. Other than those events nothing too big or exciting happened for me at work.
On Saturday I did some solo exploring. I started my day at the American History Museum. After a food truck hot dog for lunch, I took a walk around the monuments and saw the Washington Momument, the WWII memorial, the Reflecting Pool, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial. I think crossed the street to walk through the MLK memorial and the FDR memorial. I bought a book at the FDR bookstore and spent the rest of the afternoon reading Eleanor Roosevelts Autobiography by the Potomac River and getting quite sunburnt. Still, it was too nice of a day to not be outside!
Yesterday I ventured out again to see some more DC museums. I visited the Air and Space Museum, the American Indian Museum, and the National Garden and Botanic Center. They weren't my favorite museums in DC, mostly because I'm not that into airplanes or space or Indian heritage but it was a good way to get out of the apartment. I was so tired and sunburnt by the end of the day yesterday I went to bed very early to get prepared for another week!
